Editorial Workflow
Every manuscript submitted to NanoScyentist follows the same sequence of stages.
| Stage | Description | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Submission | The manuscript is submitted through the online form and receives a reference number. | Day 0 |
| Editorial screening | Scope, quality, anonymisation, references, declarations and similarity are checked. Manuscripts that do not meet the criteria are returned. | 7 days |
| Peer review | Double-blind assessment by at least two independent reviewers. | 4 weeks |
| Decision | The handling editor considers the reports and reaches a decision. | 1 week |
| Revision | Authors revise and respond point by point to every comment. | 2–4 weeks |
| Acceptance | The revised manuscript is assessed and, if satisfactory, accepted. The APC invoice is issued. | 1 week |
| Production | Copyediting, typesetting, author proof, DOI registration and publication. | 2–3 weeks |
These are the timelines the journal works to. Where a stage takes longer — for example, when an additional reviewer is needed — the corresponding author is informed.
